Death By Chocolate

Thu, Oct 24, 2019

It’s back!!! Our 4th annual Death by Chocolate fundraiser — Moonlight Monsters & Mayhem — is more spooky, more macabre, and more spirited than ever. In fact, it’s an event to die for . . . There will be devilishly delicious chocolate treats from the Chattahoochee Valley’s finest restaurants, chefs, caterers, and confectioners available for all you chocolate lovers. And for those you who crave just a little something different, there will be scrumptious savories and delicious hors d’oeuvres of all types, plus a variety of delightfully “spirited” libations. As our new name implies, we’re embracing the fun of Halloween . . . there’ll be evil eyed ravens and skeletons galore, a fortune teller, a wild “witchy” band and a dance floor to work out that end-of-week melancholy madness. Plus, there will be a Costume Contest for those of you who are longing to express your “inner beings.” Let’s create a little mayhem, shall we? All “spookies” aside, DBC’s Moonlight Monsters & Mayhem is our annual fundraiser and it is very important. The museum cares for a unique collection of nationally important naval artifacts and archival materials. We provide educational programs and tours for schoolchildren and adults alike, as well as a variety of entertaining public events and programs for the community. Your support helps sustain the museum’s operating budget, which in turn allows us to continue to share the stories about the Civil War navies that you will hear nowhere else! Check out our website at www.portcolumbus.org or social media for details about Moonlight Monsters & Mayhem.

A Night of Heroes

Fri, Nov 15, 2019

Local heroes and superheroes will be taking over Columbus, GA on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Columbus GA Convention & Trade Center’s first annual A Night of Heroes. The event will take place from 5PM-7PM in the Fountain Courtyard. Tickets are being sold at the door for $10 per child, adults are free. Tickets are CASH ONLY. Aspiring to bring more family friendly events to Columbus, we wanted to offer a night for families to come and learn about the City’s local heroes who help others every day. The goal of this event is to teach kids what the local heroes in the community do and to show them not to be afraid of them if they were ever in a situation where they need help. The Columbus Department of Fire & EMS, Columbus Police Department, and Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office will be present to teach kids about what the local heroes in our community do for us. There will be firetrucks and police cars on site. We will also have superheroes present so children can meet some of their favorite fictional characters, bounce houses, cash concessions, and much more! *If there is inclement weather the event will be moved inside*
